Te tūnga | The roles

Permanent and fixed term roles available (x 4) for Design Analysts at the junior and intermediate level.

The Income & Poverty Development team are responsible for supporting the development and delivery of a new longitudinal survey - Living in Aotearoa. Living in Aotearoa aims to collect information from the same participants every year for six years, about their personal and household income, material wellbeing, and housing costs.

Measures from this survey will be used to produce official statistics about the economic wellbeing of households and allow the government to monitor their progress towards reducing child poverty, as required by the Child Poverty Reduction Act 2018.

The Living in Aotearoa survey has nearly finished its first year of collection. In the next 2 years the teams' work programme is focused on:

- Monitoring and reporting the progress of the survey while it's in the field and providing advice on how to adapt the survey to respond to lessons learned from its first year in the field.
- Developing the processes for data processing, analysis, and dissemination.
- Refining the survey content for future waves, including modernising it to enable collection online and over the phone.
- Providing advice about the survey - verbal and written, technical and operational - to internal and external stakeholders.

- An interest in or knowledge of working with longitudinal surveys and their dependencies
- Relationship building & collaboration skills and the ability to see the big picture as we continue to work through the development stages of Living in Aotearoa.
- Experience in coming up to speed quickly and developing a sound understanding of your survey and be confident explaining in plain language what is unique and important about the design and delivery of longitudinal surveys, the collection and analysis of data on income, housing costs, material wellbeing, and poverty

Level of comfort working in an ambiguous environment where priorities can and do change. You're able to respond and adapt your thinking when new information comes to light, making sure our customers' needs are identified and met.

- Taking systems view to resolving conceptually and technically challenging problems
- Experience in questionnaire design or qualitative research. Or,
- An intermediate level of experience (desirable) using R, and good statistical knowledge
- Experience presenting visually interesting data to solve problems
- Where you've shown curiosity and tried new things, taken on other perspectives, challenged the norm, learned, and applied or shared your learnings.
- About your knowledge and experience or willingness to learn about Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Māori.
- How you've demonstrated or encouraged diversity and inclusion in or outside of work.
- Examples of strong relationships you've built and how and why relationships are important.
- Experience performing data design tasks using xx (details can be changed for role)
