This new Advanced Wheelchair
and Seating Therapist role will promote evidence-informed and culturally safe
practice within our community therapy teams.

In
this predominantly clinical role, you will use your extensive clinical skills
and knowledge to support the provision of high standard wheeled mobility and
postural management solutions, with a focus on keeping people living well in
their own communities. The clinical caseload associated with this role is predominantly
based within the Adult Community Therapy Service, with an emphasis on
neurological and progressive conditions in people aged under 65 years.
You will work alongside
operational and clinical leaders to support the continuous improvement of our
wheelchair and seating service. This will include supporting emerging wheelchair and
seating therapists with professional development opportunities and the creation
of evidenced-based clinical and education resources.
Fostering relationships
within Te Whatu Ora and with wider networks will be a vital aspect of achieving
these objectives.
Ko wai koe | About You;
- Clinical expertise in Complex Wheelchair/Seating/24-hour postural management, implementing best-practice solutions considered within a flexible, holistic approach
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work alongside, influence and communicate with a range of personalities
- Demonstrates ability to mentor, inspire and motivate colleagues
- Experience working with adults with neurological and progressive neurological conditions is desirable.
- Essential attributes:

- Enable NZ Level 1 & 2 Wheeled Mobility and Postural Management (WMPM1/2) accreditation
- Endorsement in Complex Custom Fabrication (or willing to work towards) and Postural Management - Lying
- Extensive experience in pressure injury prevention and management
- Demonstrated clinical skills in supporting and managing clients with a palliative prognosis
- Registered with Occupational Therapy Board of NZ or Physiotherapy Board of NZ
