Te āhuatunga a Te Kooti Whenua Māori/About the Māori Land Court
We are a court of record. Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 (our Act) recognises the significance of Māori land as a taonga tuku iho of special significance to the Māori people and the Court is the guardian of the whakapapa of the land, for the people.
Our role is to provide a court service to support landowners through their whenua journey. As a team member, you will promote the retention of Māori land with its correct ownership and assist with the effective use, management and development of that land.
Te Haeata/The Opportunity
We currently have a 2x permanent, full-time positions available at the Tākitimu Māori Land Court, based in Hastings.
The work is challenging and varied, and the environment is interesting and supportive. In carrying out this mahi, you will be making a positive impact on people's lives, and the lives of their future generations.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
**To be successful in the role you will have**:
- A genuine interest in people and experience in providing great customer service.
- Great organisation skills and a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong demonstrable research skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Operational experience in a medium or large organisation with experience in using a digital workflow system to process work.
- Experience working in a high-paced environment where you are required to respond to changing needs and priorities to manage large workloads.
- Excellent administrative skills with good attention to detail to produce quality work.
- Experience in working with other agencies, service providers and key stakeholders.
- A good general knowledge of, and respect for, tikanga Māori and a commitment to further develop your knowledge of Te Reo Māori.
- You will work within a well-established and vibrant team alongside technical experts and you'll have attributes of being flexible, calm and resilient.
