**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

The Department of General Surgery at Christchurch Hospital provide a comprehensive range of tertiary level, acute and elective General Surgical services to the people of Canterbury and beyond. The Department currently comprises:

- 27 General Surgeons
- 4 Medical Officers
- 22 Registrars
- 12 House Officers

Covering the following sub-speciality areas:

- Oncoplastic Breast and Endocrine
- Upper GI
- HPB
- Lower GI

We are supported by three inpatient ward areas, specialist nursing staff, and a comprehensive range of Allied health services.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform surgical procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases, including lumpectomy, mastectomy, and breast reconstruction.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists, to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Educate patients about their diagnosis, treatment options, and post-operative care.

Applicants must be eligible for vocational registration with MCNZ and should have completed a minimum of two years post fellowship subspecialty breast training at the commencement of employment
