Reporting directly to the Director of the Clinical Training and Education Unit (CETU) and working with the CETU team, the Prevocational Medical Education Fellow will be responsible for maintaining and developing the education and training of prevocational trainees (House Officers) at Te Toka Tumai Auckland.

The purpose of this role (new since 2021) is to optimise the education and training journey of junior doctors by advancing educational programmes and initiatives, providing hands on support to prevocational interns, and by acting as an RMO liaison between junior doctors and the clinical leadership team.

The Prevocational Medical Education Fellow will work closely with the CETU team (director, operations manager, events coordinator, and Māori and Pasifika Kaitiaki) to develop and improve educational and training programmes for House Officers. In particular, the position holder will have the chance to run and help further develop the new PGY2 teaching programme with the CETU team. The position holder will also work closely with the Prevocational Educational Supervisors to facilitate the smooth transition of Postgraduate Year 1 House Officers to the workforce, including their personal and professional growth, and their health and wellbeing. There will also be the opportunity to undertake an audit or research project during the year.

This is a 12-month fixed term position commencing **15 January 2024** (interns) or **30** **January 2024** (registrars). A shorter fixed term period may be negotiable; this is a full time role but it may be possible to build in a clinical component by negotiation.

**About you**
- You will hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- You are currently a Prevocational House Officer with General Registration (Endorsement removed) or a Registrar at an early stage of training
- Medical education experience preferred
- Training and working experience in the Auckland region would be an advantage
- Pastoral care experience and/or be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, ability to maintain confidentiality and be trustworthy
- Flexible, positive, proactive problem-solver
- Time management skills and be able to prioritise
