We are seeking a locum Obstetrician and Gynaecologist from February - June 2026 to support our team of eleven consultants at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern.
Our department supports a maternity unit with an antenatal and postnatal area with approximately 20 beds, operating theatre, and antenatal and outpatient obstetric clinics.
Dunedin Hospital has a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a dedicated Women's Health Unit.
The service is supported by a team of experienced midwives, obstetrics, gynaecology, and colposcopy nurses.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide consultant led antenatal, gynaecology and colposcopy clinic services as well as working in:
maternitysurgical wardsoperating theatreearly pregnancy clinicthe emergency department.
There will also be a requirement to provide outlying clinics and support of rural maternity units.
responsibility for labour and birthingacute antenatal and gynaecological assessments and admissionsresponsibility of all inpatient acute or from elective surgery after hours.
As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for us, you will have a personal commitment to providing an effective and efficient inpatient and outpatient service and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a tight knit team.
About you
You will:
require prior experience as a consultant, fellow or senior registrarbe accredited by RANZCOGhold registration (or be eligible for registration) as a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist with the Medical Council of New Zealandneed to be certified to provide colposcopy services.
