Job Overview: As a Product Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing innovative kitchen and cabinetry products that align with market trends and meet customer needs.
This role involves close collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure designs are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally effective.
Key Responsibilities:
· Client Consultation and Briefing: Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to understand design requirements, objectives, and constraints.
Ensure that the design brief aligns with customer expectations and company capabilities.
· Design Conceptualization: Develop creative design concepts for kitchens and cabinetry that reflect current market trends and local lifestyle influences.
Emphasize functionality, aesthetics, and usability in all designs.
· Material and Hardware Selection: Choose appropriate materials and hardware, including New Zealand panels and European-engineered components, to ensure quality, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
· Visual Representation: Create detailed sketches, 3 D models, and technical drawings to communicate design ideas clearly to clients and production teams.
· Collaboration and Negotiation: Work closely with sales, manufacturing, and installation teams to refine designs, ensuring feasibility and adherence to production capabilities.
Negotiate and adjust design aspects as needed to balance client needs and practical considerations.
· Prototype Development: Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, testing them to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards.
· Documentation and Specification: Prepare comprehensive documentation, including material specifications, production methods, and detailed design guidelines, to facilitate smooth production processes.
· Quality Assurance and Supervision: Monitor the production process to ensure that final products align with the original design intent and maintain high-quality standards.
Address any issues or deviations promptly.
· Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and technologies to continuously enhance design quality and innovation.
 
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field, OR you have at least 3 years proven experience in product design or related field
· A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design work, including conceptual sketches, technical drawings, and final products.
· Proficiency in design and CAD software such as Auto CAD, Solid Works, or similar.
· In-depth understanding of materials, production methods, and design principles.
· Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
· Keen attention to detail and a passion for innovative design solutions.
