We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated General Cardiologist to provide inpatient and outpatient cardiology care across the Northland region.
Based in Whangārei, this role will involve travelling to and working from our rural hospitals as needed.
Whangārei Hospital is the largest hospital in Northland, providing secondary care services across the region and supported by four rural hospitals in Dargaville, Rawene, Bay of Islands, and Kaitaia.
Advanced Trainees, Registrars, Nurse Practitioners, and Clinical Nurse Specialists work alongside our SMO/MOSS team playing key roles in the delivery of cardiology services and care.
Whangārei Hospital has an on-site cardiac catheter lab performing coronary intervention, service provision for cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, transthoracic echocardiogram (including TOE and stress echo), and well-developed heart failure and cardiac rehab services.

As a General Cardiologist, you will join a small but close-knit team dedicated to their patients.
You will collaborate with the Clinical Lead to ensure your knowledge and skills are consistently developed.
Our expectation is that you will bring your specialist experience and embrace the challenges involved in developing the service to its maximum potential.
We want a motivated team player that is patient-focused to play a key part in the continued development of a re-invigorated cardiology service.
A clinical trial centre has been recently set up in Whangārei with opportunities now available to be involved in local clinical research.
You will be able to make meaningful decisions and improve access to specialist cardiac care for a region that has historically been underserved.
As well as a warm climate, the 'winterless north' has excellent schools, affordable housing, and scenic coastal areas offering a vast range of recreational activities.
We are just two hours' drive from the international hub of Auckland.
As a region, Northland is renowned for its beautiful beaches and relaxed lifestyle.
To be considered, you must have or be eligible for vocational and/or general registration in Internal Medicine (Cardiology) scope of practice with the Medical Council of NZ.
Essential to this role is general cardiology experience and competency in echocardiography including TOE.
