The Foundation scales up science, innovation and outreach to improve marine biodiversity and ecosystem health, thereby promoting a healthy ocean for a healthy future.
This is a full-time role based on Auckland waterfront.
The staff team of five works primarily in New Zealand, but also leverages international engagements in sailing through its charity partnership with the New Zealand Sail GP team and wider ocean sports.
This role drives impactful programmes, builds partnerships, secures funding, and elevates the organisation's profile to achieve sustainable, measurable outcomes in ocean conservation.
The Chief Executive develops and implements strategic plans, oversees the day-to-day running of the charity, engages with key stakeholders, and leads the foundation's advocacy and fundraising efforts.
The Chief Executive ensures projects align with the foundation's values and goals while inspiring and managing the team effectively.
To be successful, we need a leader with the right heart for this work, and a demonstrated track record in raising funding, profile, excellent communications, and growing long-term partnerships.
The person will not need to be a sector expert in ocean health or environmental sustainability but must grow into this understanding quickly.
They must have a deep connection with the ocean, credible alignment with our organisation and its values and beliefs.
An excellent relationship with the Board who supports the Founders will also be key to success in this role.
