ACC Investments manages a diversified investment portfolio with the goal of generating returns that help fund the long-term liabilities associated with the ACC scheme.
ACC Investment aims to ensure the financial sustainability of the scheme, enabling it to meet future compensation claims and support injury prevention and rehabilitation initiatives effectively.
The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at ACC is a vital executive role that reports directly to the CEO and is part of the executive team.
This position leads ACC Investments as a business unit, which focuses on ensuring scheme funds achieve sustainable, risk-adjusted returns to support ACC's mandate.
The CIO is responsible for leading the investment office and acts as a key representative of ACC, communicating investment strategies and performance both internally and externally to align with broader organisational objectives.
The CIO is responsible for providing executive oversight and leadership across a range of internal and external mandates to ensure the fund meets performance and cost expectations.
The CIO is tasked with developing and refining investment strategies and guidelines, managing risk, driving team culture and performance, and exploring opportunities to leverage technology advancements.
The role involves managing relationships with key external stakeholders, including Treasury and investment community members, and must steward the high reputation of ACC's Investment function.
This role requires proven, credible investment experience as well as the ability to influence and contribute across a complex enterprise.
Experience investing in liability-driven environments is required, which might come from prior experience leading investment functions outright, or teams within asset portfolios or in asset allocation.
Fundamentally, this is a role for a technical and enterprise leader, relying on the ability to lead highly skilled teams, create an environment of ongoing improvement and develop leadership capability.
