The Policy and Te Tiriti branch includes policy, Te Tiriti, ministerial and local government capabilities.
The branch provides strategic leadership and oversight across a range of policy areas focused on gambling and racing, media content and online safety, digital identity and community affairs, as well as local government policy and water reform.
Additionally, the branch has oversight of Ministerial and Monitoring functions and our Māori/Crown relationships and Treaty Settlements.

About You: The General Manager, Policy is a key member of the Policy and Te Tiriti Leadership Team.
You will be responsible for shaping and overseeing the policy work programme for the Policy Group.
You will be leading a team of specialists to gather and analyse information, providing high-quality, evidence-based advice to Ministers.
To be successful in the role you will have the following skills and experience: Extensive experience in a senior New Zealand public service role including the ability to provide quality policy advice and services to senior managers and/or Ministers Demonstrated experience of working in a fast-paced, ambiguous programme environment, focussing on timely delivery of policy products Proven leadership of policy teams that have delivered complex work programmes A strong track record of people development, capacity building and leading leaders Strong understanding of policy and legislative environments.
In-depth experience in leading organisational change in a diverse, complex and changing business environment Strategic capability and able to think beyond immediate issues to consider the longer term and broader implications; including develop and explain possible future scenarios, as well as identifies risks and anticipates long term opportunities and threats Proactive and collaborative in your working style, with the ability to easily engage and influence a range of stakeholders, and others across the Department Excellent personal and communication skills.
