As our project pipeline in New Zealand continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to deliver our projects throughout New Zealand.

The Financial Controller is a newly created role within Ethical Power New Zealand Limited, a member of the Ethical Power Group.
This is the first in-situ finance role for the Group’s operations within New Zealand, with the responsibility of developing the local finance function of a core subsidiary of the Group.
The role will include completing all day-to-day finance operations through to financial reporting for both local and group requirements.
The financial controller will liaise directly with the New Zealand Managing Director to deliver local project budgeting, forecasting and cost valuation reports.
This individual will be responsible for the preparation of the New Zealand budget and forecasting process, while also managing the Company cashflow, reporting into a wider group treasury function.
You will be expected to improve processes, project and Company reporting packs and deliver statutory accounts and ensure local tax compliance, as a member of a wider group finance function.
Key responsibilities include: Management of the New Zealand budget process Producing monthly management accounts in line with Group timescales.
Working capital management including weekly cashflow forecasts.
Transactional processing including treasury, accounts payable and receivable Maintaining Balance Sheet controls and reconciliations Business partnering with the MD to review project reporting and management accounts.
Manage the year end local accounts and tax preparation and feed into Group reporting.
Business partnering with the operations team to help produce and analyse the project cost valuation reports and challenge where necessary.
Identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing new processes.
To act as a business partner between Finance and other departments to ensure consistent and joined up ways of working.
Review and sign off payroll.
To ensure compliance with any statutory reporting requirements including tax Enforces, documents and establishes adequate controls for all areas of responsibility.
Other ad hoc projects as and when required by the MD or Ethical Power Group Finance.
About you The role requires a confident self-starter who can step into rapidly growing business and implement new reporting processes and controls.
You will need a hands on approach being ready to business partner with local commercial and engineering teams, while also reporting into the wider Group finance function.
This should be a flexible and analytical professional with: At least 3 years post qualified accountancy experience (CAANZ, ACA or equivalent)Preferably an accounting background with an engineering/construction based business Knowledge of NZ IFRS / NZ IFRS RDRTechnological competence Advanced in Microsoft Excel Experience operating within a medium sized high growth business.
Experience with Xero and SAGE ERPs preferable A good cultural fit is key and the following attributes would be valuable: Excellent presentation and communication skills Excellent technical and analytical financial management skills – attention to detail Results-driven attitude with rigorous accountability for achieving high levels of individual and company performance Proactive self-starter and high-achiever who thrives on a challenge Problem solver who is prepared to cover all areas of the finance function, from data entry to accounts preparation and review Team player happy to report within a Group finance function and represent finance with other commercial, operational and engineering teams across the business The role will be Auckland based.
This is also an office-based role although home working flexibility on an ad hoc basis can be accommodated.
