We have a flexible structure whereby the role will be based with the Acute Response / Home Based Treatment Team (ART/HBT) and Consult Liaison Clinicians.
There may be a rotation to in-patient or other community positions over time.
The role is based in Rotorua but could involve some in-reach to the satellite hospital in Taupo.
The successful candidate will have: A broad range of general psychiatric skills Hold or be eligible for Vocational Registration with Medical Council of NZEnjoy teaching – Rotorua is a teaching hospital with 4th, 5th and 6th year medical students as well as registrars training for fellowship with the RANZCPOffer senior advice and support in the assessment and diagnosis of presenting conditions to General Medicine team.
The role: Busy role with a broad variety of general psychiatry1:6 on call roster Ko wai mātou / Who we are Te Whatu Ora Lakes serves a population of just over 118,000 and covers 9,570 square kilometres.
It stretches from Mourea in the north to Mangakino in the west, down to Turangi in the south and across to Kaingaroa village in the east.
The major centres of population are Rotorua and Taupō where two hospitals are based.
The DHB’s boundaries take in the two main iwi groups of Te Arawa and Ngāti Tuwharetoa.
