Our client, Hatch Consulting is revolutionising the role of Professional Quantity Surveyors in New Zealand. The success of their collaborative and practical approach is evidenced by their role in major projects like the Tauhara Geothermal Power Station. Hatch is a construction consultancy firm who specialise in end to end construction contract management services on major projects for the private and public sector.

In 2024, they were awarded the RICS Quantity Surveying Team of the Year; a team who are expert commercial advisors who underpin their approach with strong ethics and professionalism fostering trusted client relationships.

They continuously innovate, leverage technology and choose adaptive strategies to navigate challenges. With their outcome focused approach, they continue to expand their presence in the industry.

Due to continued success and large volume of projects they have (now and in future), we're currently looking for a Senior Consultant / Senior QS or similar to join their Tauranga based team.

With an impressive portfolio of clients specialising in renewable energy, civils infrastructure, development management and community projects, they have a strong forward workload ahead.

This role is varied and no two days will be the same. You'll get the opportunity to be involved throughout the project lifecycle in the following areas:

  • Procurement advisory
  • Estimating
  • Tender evaluation
  • Contract negotiation and preparation
  • Variation assessment
  • Payment claim certification
  • Dispute resolution
  • Providing construction advisory services

Reporting to the Director, you'll be part of a team of six. The successful candidate will come with a passion for the industry and will be looking for the next opportunity in their career. This consultancy brings expert commercial management to their clients, along with their own individual expertise in areas including contract law, sustainability and BIM.

We are looking for an experienced construction professional with at least 7+ years experience, who enjoys combining technical expertise and practical experience to develop solutions for their client's, as well as the flexibility to bring your own unique skills and expertise.

You'll be someone with strong commercial acumen, have the ability to work autonomously and lead client relationships. Your communication will be second to none and you'll also have exceptional attention to detail.

Other key requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or similar
  • Solid NZ Contract knowledge
  • Ideally some consultancy experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Outstanding written & verbal communication skills
