Rotorua, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand Rotorua Community Youth Centre Trust Full time

Add expected salary to your profile for insights

Would you like to see Rotorua young people gain and sustain employment, training and/or education outcomes to support them reaching their full potential? Would you like to lead a skilled and passionate team to do this? Would you like to contribute to the wider health and wellbeing outcomes across our organisation? If so, then this may be the job for you

Rotorua Community Youth Centre Trust (RCYCT) t/a Taiohi Tūrama – Rotorua Centre for Youth, is looking for a dynamic full-time Manager to lead and manage all aspects of Taiohi Tūrama's youth employment work and contracts, including the Youth Employment Plus – Rotorua (YEP-R) service and team, Community Coaching contract, and the Education to Employment Vocational Brokerage Service.

Taiohi Tūrama is a not-for-profit organisation funded by a variety of Government departments including Te Whatu Ora, MSD, MYD, Oranga Tamariki, and other organisations through contracts and grants. We are a dedicated Youth One Stop Shop with the vision that all 'Rotorua youth reach their full potential'. Our multidisciplinary team includes Nurses, Doctors, Social Workers, Youth Workers, Navigators, Mentors, Business Opportunities Broker, Mental Health Workers, and administration staff working specifically with young people, focusing on youth health, youth development, and employment.

Youth Employment Plus – Rotorua (YEP-R) creates a community of impact 'eco-system', that supports and empowers young people (aged 15-24). YEP-R prioritises those young people that are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and/or most at risk of long-term unemployment to actively engage them in learning, and to attain and sustain employment, training, and/or education. At the core of this is the kawa and tikanga of Pūtake Nui.

The Education to Employment Vocational Brokerage Service (E2EVBS) is aimed at secondary school (year 9 – 13) students. The ultimate goals of E2EVBS are to raise the profile and strengthen the pipeline of students entering the vocational education system and increase and enhance the opportunities for young people to be aware of and improve access to vocational education prospects for future careers in trades.

The Community Coaching Service supports young people (aged 18-24) who have been in receipt of a Job Seeker benefit for 12 months or longer into employment.

The Youth Employment Manager oversees a team of Youth Worker Navigators (youth facing) and a Workplace Opportunities Broker (employer facing), who work with employers/industry, education providers, service providers, and other stakeholders to provide young people a tailored approach (including information, skills, knowledge, connections, guidance, employment opportunities, and pastoral care) that supports young people's transitions to being work-ready, and gaining and sustaining employment, training, and/or education. The Youth Employment Manager also oversees the Education to Employment Vocational Broker.

The wider ecosystem consists of 'partners' who need to be actively engaged to co-design pathways to employment and commit to working collaboratively to provide an intensive and comprehensive wrap-around support service and to remove the barriers our young people currently face. The Youth Employment Manager will strengthen this ecosystem by providing relationship management, coordination, facilitation, ensuring a woven and seamless approach for our young people.

We are looking for a leader with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a leadership and/or management role, who has experience in the social sector, and preferably with a relevant tertiary qualification. It is essential that you have a strong passion for young people, have a commitment to the Pūtake Nui framework; the Vision, Mission, Values, and Principles of Taiohi Tūrama, and Mana Taiohi, for achieving positive outcomes for young people. The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the context of a Youth One Stop Shop goes without saying.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you
