Habitat for Humanity - Nelson | Listed 2 days ago
Listing DescriptionLocation: Nelson, Nelson / Tasman
Job type: Full time
Duration: Permanent
DescriptionHabitat for Humanity is an international not-for-profit organisation that builds homes and provides affordable rental for individuals and families on low to mid incomes. Our Progressive Home Ownership Programme is a key part of this and assists families to achieve homeownership. It is a "hand up" not a "handout." Habitat for Humanity partners with families that commit to working toward owning their home and are willing to invest time and effort to succeed.
Habitat for Humanity Nelson is an Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity NZ and covers the Nelson Tasman region and "Top of the South." We believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live, and this underpins everything we do. We have built several housing communities in Nelson/Tasman, and more are planned. We pride ourselves on delivering well-built, quality homes within thriving neighbourhoods and communities that provide a range of amenities.
We have a vacancy for a Partnership and Tenant Families Coordinator to organise and facilitate the selection processes for families and participants, ensuring the needs and obligations of applicants are understood and appropriate resources and information are provided. In addition, the role is the key contact point for both tenants and successful Partner Families who have been accepted onto the Progressive Homeownership Programme.
The Partnership and Tenancy Coordinator is responsible for ensuring ongoing communication and engagement with Tenants and Partner Families, managing clients' needs, setting expectations, and ensuring properties are well maintained. Organising education and training to assist families to become mortgage-ready is also part of this role, as well as addressing issues that may arise. The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Organising and coordinating the elements of the selection processes from advertising, applications, interviewing, assisting in selection recommendations, to document finalisation.
- Post-selection, supporting partner and tenant families with property inspections and management needs, providing guidance to relevant service agencies, managing a complaints and issues process, and ensuring standard process and procedure information is well communicated and implemented.
- Acting as the families' key communications channel, requiring a high level of interpersonal skill to build and maintain positive engagement with the partners and tenants.
The successful applicant will ideally have a relevant tertiary qualification and proven experience in a public-facing service delivery position, possibly in property tenancy management and/or education. This role is for a person with life experience skills who is a relationship builder across a diverse cross-section of the community and enjoys working with people. While budgeting or financial experience would also be useful, effective communication (verbal and written), strong organisational skills, proficiency with computers and varied applications, and personal resilience would be essential.
If this role excites you and you have the skills and attributes to deliver, we look forward to your application. All applicants must have a current legal entitlement to live and work in New Zealand.
Apply online for this role or contact Katrina Bach for more information.
