About Us

Aurora Energy is one of the largest electricity networks in Aotearoa New Zealand. We own and manage the network that delivers electricity to some of the fastest growing areas and over the most diverse terrain in Te Waipounamu South Island. We deliver a safe, reliable and sustainable electricity supply to a population of more than 200,000 residents in Ōtepoti Dunedin, Central Otago/Wānaka and Tāhuna Queenstown. Our purpose is enabling the energy future of our communities.

Why Join Us?

  • You'll have the chance to lead a talented and varied team, with opportunities to share resources and collaborate with the wider organisation.
  • Work on meaningful internal projects and programmes, with the chance to shape how things are done.
  • On top of a generous salary, we offer a comprehensive wellbeing and benefits package to our staff including extra Kiwisaver contributions after 1 year of employment.

This position is based in Dunedin - a relaxed city, surrounded by beautiful beaches, short commutes and has great character thanks to its stunning architecture.

As the Works Delivery Team Lead, your remit is twofold. Guide, mentor and coach a diverse team of Project Managers and administration support staff, across costs, labour, time and delivery requirements, and simultaneously manage a portfolio of key projects of your own.

A day in the life of this role will see you:

  • Lead, mentor, coach, and manage a diverse project team with a mix of skills and personalities, including 1:1's, project updates and regular team-meetings.
  • Oversee a portfolio of critical projects, collaborating with external stakeholders such as DOC, NZTA, and our local councils.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including planning, asset management, network operations, finance and the like, contributing to project approvals, forecasting, and project reporting.
  • Drive improvements in safety performance and model the organisation's commitment to Health, safety and wellbeing.

Key Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes you'll bring:

  • A Tertiary Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Civil Construction, or a Trade Qualification within the field of electricity transmission or supply.
  • A Project Management qualification such as Prince2 or similar.
  • You're a proven leader with experience managing project teams.
  • A demonstrated background in electricity (energy, utilities), civil construction, or similar infrastructure projects, where technical know-how, such as trenching and cable running, are words you understand.
  • Great communication skills to work with both technical and process-based team members, external contractors, and service providers.
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish, with a focus on cost control, timely delivery, stakeholder engagement, safety and to a very high standard.

What's in it for you?

  • Ongoing support for professional development and training.
  • Hybrid flexible work policy and lifestyle leave option.
  • Active Wellbeing Programme giving you access to free fruit, free flu vaccinations, regular activities and events.
  • Access to 24 hour Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Exclusive discounts and great deals on over 40 of your favourite brands and stores including air travel, hardware and home appliances.
  • Southern Cross private medical insurance discount.
  • Additional Employer contribution to KiwiSaver.
  • Employee Reward and Recognition programme.
