Key requirements of the role include:
- Previous experience in social services
- Strong community networks with the ability to connect and build trusting relationships with tamariki, rangatahi, whānau, and the community.
- Well-developed facilitation skills with the ability to relate, understand, plan, act with others, and reflect, evidencing the application of relevant FGC standards and practices throughout the process.
- Experience in mediation and negotiation and the ability to understand complex dynamics.
- Ability to self-direct and manage your own workload with excellent organisational skills.
- Well-developed communication skills as you will be engaging with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to be relational with whānau and professionals.
- Champion the principles of the Oranga Tamariki Cultural Practice Framework and have a good understanding of The Oranga Tamariki Act.
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices, particularly knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples' culture.
- Upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and demonstrating this in your practice.
- A valid and clean New Zealand driver's licence.
We also offer training and professional development so that you can thrive and grow. We welcome diversity and are committed to working in an inclusive and respectful way. This is your opportunity to apply your skills and experience to the wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi.
Oranga Tamariki offers an impartial remuneration package that provides progression annually for experience through tenure.
