Scientist - Lakes and Estuaries

We are seeking a Lakes and Estuaries scientist to deliver Horizons' monitoring and research programmes for both lakes and estuaries.
The role will have you working alongside a team of scientists to help develop and implement scientific research and monitoring that supports policy development, implementation, and informs responses to environmental issues across this large and diverse region.
Our science is strongly linked with national research programmes and the information gathered contributes to cutting-edge regional and national research programmes.
This permanent full-time position, based in Palmerston North, is part of the Science team.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in limnology and estuary water quality. You should have a good understanding of the Resource Management Act and National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management. You will also have:
- Proven success in interpreting and communicating scientific information in an engaging and informative way.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal); able to effectively present ideas and projects to a wide-ranging audience.
- An understanding of Mātauranga Māori, the Treaty of Waitangi, and tikanga (and Te Reo ability), or willingness to learn.
