Specialist Manager – Traffic Solutions
Location: Auckland
- Lead the growth of traffic solutions across NZ with a focus on business development, operational leadership, and project delivery.
- Champion our specialist offering through on-site solutions, innovation, and customer partnerships.
- Great salary package including vehicle, fuel card, and phone.
As a company that's been around since 1948, we know what matters most: family – and it's at the heart of everything we do. We're the largest family-owned equipment hire company in Australia and New Zealand, with over 2,000 team members across 200+ sites and branches. Our mission is simple: be the best hire company in the world. We grow sustainably and innovate in ways that benefit our people, our customers, and our communities. At the end of the day, we keep it real and deliver what we say we will – making our customers' jobs easy.
About the role
We're looking for a commercially savvy, solutions-focused leader to take charge of our Traffic Specialist Business across Auckland and New Zealand. This is not your average branch manager role – it's a strategic position focused on business development, project execution, branch performance, and the growth of our specialist traffic portfolio.
You'll lead a high-performing team across the branch, fostering a culture of safety, service, and continuous improvement. You'll manage the Profit & Loss (P&L) for the specialist traffic business, coach and develop team members, and work with the Area Manager to optimise staffing, rostering, and operational efficiency.
You'll also be on the ground with customers, designing and delivering end-to-end traffic management solutions that go beyond standard equipment hire. You'll leverage the strength of our branch network while being the go-to expert for traffic product innovation and service delivery across key projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage an engaged branch team to deliver exceptional service, safety, and operational results.
- Provide comprehensive on-site traffic management solutions, including equipment setup and ongoing support.
- Build strong relationships with contractors, councils, and infrastructure clients to secure repeat work.
- Stay up to date with industry regulations, compliance requirements, and evolving traffic equipment standards in New Zealand to ensure all operations and solutions meet legislative and safety obligations.
- Drive revenue growth by identifying and converting new business opportunities.
- Deliver against P&L targets and branch profitability goals.
- Plan and manage branch staffing in collaboration with the Area Manager.
- Prepare end-of-month performance reports and action plans for lost business.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver seamless service across the network.
- Provide technical and product guidance to internal teams to uplift capability across NZ.
About You
You're a hands-on, strategic thinker with a commercial mindset. You thrive in customer-facing environments and enjoy leading high-performing teams. You're not afraid to get on-site, roll up your sleeves, and make things happen – all while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.
You'll Bring:
- Proven experience in business development or project delivery in the construction, traffic, or hire industries.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a branch or operational environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with confidence in managing P&L and delivering financial outcomes.
- A passion for delivering tailored solutions, not just selling products.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all levels.
- Commitment to safety, team development, and customer satisfaction.
- Solid understanding of New Zealand traffic management regulations and compliance standards, with the ability to stay current on industry changes and apply them operationally.
