The Role:

Based in Christchurch (Hornby) and reporting to the Head of Direct Procurement, we are looking for a Procurement Specialist (Direct) to join our diverse and dedicated Procurement team. This role will support the business in effective procurement practices through driving appropriate processes and outputs, increasing transparency and visibility and enabling Westland Milk Products to plan and budget effectively.

Your key responsibilities:

  1. Support and develop procurement strategy in assigned portfolio categories.
  2. Identify and adopt best procurement practices in conjunction with procurement policy.
  3. Support the definition and ongoing implementation of global sustainable procurement and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  4. Work with key business stakeholders and internal customers on facilitating procurement requirements.
  5. End-to-end sourcing activities, establishing and documenting business requirements.
  6. The facilitation and completion of tender processes, documentation and contract negotiations to managing suppliers.

Our successful applicant will likely possess:

  1. Previous experience in a procurement role ideally supported by a relevant commercial or supply chain related degree/qualification.
  2. Good understanding of procurement category management and procurement principles, ideally have a strong procurement process background.
  3. CIPS qualification or the desire to achieve this would be advantageous.
  4. Experience in a food or dairy or manufacturing environment is preferable.
  5. Strong attention to detail with an analytical and logical approach.
  6. Well-developed facilitation and negotiation skills.
  7. The ability to exercise good judgement and display sound decision-making skills.
  8. Exceptional communication and relationship management skills and the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
  9. A drive to support sustainable procurement and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  10. Good time management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks/workloads.
