Diesel Mechanic

We are currently looking for a qualified Diesel Mechanic to work in our Mechanical Department with the ability to do field service work as well as workshop.
Job Description:- Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts and be fully responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery jobs.
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts. Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts prior to reassembling engines.
- Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups to achieve smoother running of vehicles.
- Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness.
- To assist with customer enquiries and ensuring jobs/requests are followed through to high quality.
- Ensure that communication with staff and management is kept regular and effective.
- Ensure that all stock and job transactions, whether internal or external are documented and in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ordering parts in a timely and efficient manner using the ordering system.
- Checking and testing all repairs before releasing to customers ensuring high quality workmanship.
- Adhering to all Health and Safety procedures.
- Trade certified Diesel Mechanic or NZ equivalent, overseas qualifications are accepted
- Current Drivers Licence
- Hydraulic experience
This position guarantees 40 hours work per week.
This position requires a person with a minimum of 2 years experience and who is able to communicate to customers as well as employees and enjoys a varied job environment.
The ability to work unsupervised is essential as you would be working both in the field and the workshop. A knowledge of heavy machinery, Forestry equipment, as well as experience in hydraulics, would be an advantage.
