We are currently looking for a confident educator to join our Education Team as Kaiako o Tātai Arorangi/Astronomy Educator. This role will be responsible for the delivery of our educational programming across all ages, from pre-school through to adult learners.

The successful candidate will bring with them a knowledge and passion for astronomy, mātauranga Māori and cosmological science. Experience in delivering/facilitating learning programmes within a GLAM institution or classroom setting is preferred. The role is permanent part-time at 20 hours per week.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience teaching or facilitating group learning in a GLAM or classroom setting.
  • Ability to interact with ākonga in a positive manner.
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible.
  • Capable of self-management.
  • Strong knowledge of technology and computers.
  • Knowledge and interest in astronomy and/or related sciences.
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand education system and key policy documents such as the New Zealand Curriculum refresh, Te Mataiaho, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Te Whāriki, and NCEA.

You must be currently eligible to work in New Zealand and be able to pass Police vetting to apply for this permanent part-time position.
