We have a permanent full-time opportunity for a laboratory technician with experience in molecular biology and microbiology to join our team at our Christchurch Service Centre. We are open to receiving applications from across Aotearoa New Zealand.

In this varied role you will be involved in helping to deliver internally and externally funded research projects on microbial pathogens. This includes developing molecular detection methods, molecular biology, antimicrobial resistance, microbiology, biofilms, biocontrol and tissue culture models.

This is an entry level role most suited to applicants with 2-5 years of experience working hands-on in a laboratory.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in molecular biology and/or microbiology.
  • The ability to multitask multiple priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work well in a team and on your own.

Experience working in a PC2 microbiology laboratory and with qPCR, isothermal amplification, tissue culture, ELISA/kinetic assays and protein expression would be advantageous.
