Our team is focussed on the accurate, timely and legally safe publication of Courts and tribunal decisions to public access sites and ensuring all decisions comply with suppression and privacy laws. You will be an integral part of the wider Judicial Libraries team, interacting regularly with the judiciary, Ministry and courts staff, the legal profession and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing professional, timely advice to the judiciary and support staff about risks related to decision publishing in any given instance, based on in-depth analysis and subject matter expertise.
- Providing technical and practical guidance and advice, to ensure a high level of capability. Engage in mentoring and training, both within the team and across the Ministry of Justice.
- Ensuring stakeholder relationships are maintained to a high level, thus ensuring a timely and customer focused approach to publishing services.
- Assisting members of the team with the ongoing development and maintenance of the databases applications used to support judicial decision publishing, both internal and external.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation and proactively seeking to improve systems and procedures.
To be successful in the role you will need:
- A good understanding of legal principles including statutory prohibitions on publication, or the ability to quickly grasp the legislative requirements around judgment publication.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Initiative and the ability to identify process and system changes and champion and communicate these changes to the relevant stakeholders.
- The ability to manage competing priorities.
- Refined resilience as there are times when you will be working with sensitive material.
At Te Tāhū o te Ture - the Ministry of Justice, we're committed to strengthening people's trust in the law of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
