The Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) serves to protect and restore nature across Aotearoa. When nature thrives, we all thrive.

Property Facilities Advisors support the effective and efficient management of Te Papa Atawhai / the Department of Conservation's property portfolio ensuring it is well-managed and sustainable. You will be responsible for arranging property asset condition assessments, remedial and planned maintenance on DOC owned properties, in liaison with regional or district points of contact and any contracted facilities management providers. You will also be responsible for coordinating work associated with commercial building compliance that meets the NZ Building Act requirements, such as asbestos, seismic, and building warrant of fitness.

The position will be focused on:

  • Facilities management contract relationships
  • Internal and external stakeholder & customer relationships
  • Overseeing upkeep and repairs along with preventative building maintenance
  • Adherence to local regulations and Health and Safety standards
  • Coordinating with other DOC property activities

This role calls for someone who is keen to add value to the work we do and prioritises strong, openly communicative relationships. You have an excellent track record in facilities management and the ability to facilitate enterprise portfolio management. You have proven relationship management and experience negotiating with outside suppliers.

  • Qualification or in-depth experience in property, business, asset maintenance management, valuation or related fields
  • 3+ years' experience in a facilities management role
  • Understanding of relevant property legislation and regulations
  • Proven experience and achievements in corporate real estate, administration, building management, maintenance, systems, and process management
  • Current full driving licence
  • Willingness to travel for site meetings
  • A working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems
  • Working knowledge of EAM / SAP or similar systems
