We have a rare opportunity to join our major and complex team as a specialist liability adjuster. The ideal candidate will have had experience in resolving and settling insurance claims whether that be as a broker, claims handler, lawyer or loss adjuster. We are open minded to look at anyone bringing relevant sector experience and the right personal qualities.
Desired Skills And Qualities For This Role Include
- Attainment of (or significant progression towards) chartered status as a loss adjuster or insurance professional.
- Experience in a role where the gained skillset/knowledge would translate through to the assessment, quantification and settlement of liability losses.
- A tertiary qualification in a discipline such as law, commerce, property or construction.
- An inquisitive and open mind to support the investigative aspects of the work to determine the core facts and details.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution and ability to put people at ease.
- A high standard of written English and numeracy, including good Word and Excel skills necessary for creating reports and calculating adjustment of claims.
- A readiness to handle any job that comes your way, large or small and can provide excellent service on a case load of claims.
- Eagerness to learn and develop yourself further professionally (including obtaining further qualifications that are company funded).
- The right to work and reside in New Zealand.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Facilitating and assisting with the settlement of major and complex liability insurance claims.
- Adjuster site visits and inspections.
- Discussion of circumstances of the loss with the insured and other parties.
- Appointment of and liaison with industry experts.
- Preparation of reports to the insurance company/client in a timely manner.
- Calculation, negotiation, and delivery of settlement outcomes including attendance at Dispute Tribunals.
- Recovery from responsible parties.
- Manage a significant file load, meet individual performance targets, and deliver a high standard of work at all times.
- Develop professional relationships with insurers and brokers as well as wider networks and relationships within the industry.
- Deliver expected levels of customer service.
- Participate in ongoing training and developmental opportunities and mentoring programmes, thus contributing to the ongoing development of skills in the team.
