In this role, you'll be at the forefront of Kiwibank's fight against financial crime. You'll take the lead on AML system technology changes, whether it's implementing new tools or enhancing existing ones, to ensure we stay ahead of emerging risks.

With a strong investigative mindset, you'll design and run deep-dive intelligence reviews into higher-risk areas, uncovering insights that strengthen our financial crime controls. As trends and typologies evolve, you'll refine transaction monitoring scenarios and support the assurance team in maintaining robust AML systems.

Your analytical skills will help translate complex data into meaningful reports and dashboards, guiding risk-based decision-making across the bank. You'll also play a key role in educating and coaching internal teams, making sure they have the knowledge and tools to navigate an ever-changing risk landscape.

Collaboration will be key, as you'll build strong relationships with teams across Kiwibank—Data & Technology, Operational Risk, and Compliance—as well as external partners like the Financial Intelligence Unit and peer banks.

At Kiwibank, we will help you build on your strengths and learn new skills, but in the meantime, we would love to hear from you if you have some of the following:

  • A solid understanding of New Zealand's regulatory environment, ideally with 5+ years' experience in a banking environment.
  • Skilled in SQL queries and PowerBI reporting, with strong analytical expertise in financial crime trends and typologies.
  • A passion for technology and driving system improvements.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Confidence in presenting complex data in a clear, meaningful way to a variety of audiences.
  • Proven ability to write high-quality reports and papers for senior stakeholders.
