Agricultural Manager

The Agricultural Managers key purpose is to direct the crop supply activities for the site. Through collaboration with other functions in the factory & wider business, these activities ensure that the crop demand plans, safety, quality & compliance requirements are all at the required standard.

The Agricultural Manager is also a member of the Factory Leadership Team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Aligned with the sanctioned crop plan, direct the contracts of growers, crop scheduling, & harvesting
  2. Lead the agronomy team to deliver the crop plan as per schedule
  3. Lead the harvest & garage team to ensure high reliability of harvest equipment & ensure harvesting activities are aligned with the factory plan
  4. Ensure the agronomy & harvest teams are focussed on delivering yield improvements, both within the factory & in the field
  5. Build & maintain strong relationships with contract growers
  6. Strong financial management of all crop supply & harvesting cost drivers
  7. Ensure all compliance requirements are well understood & followed
  8. Champion sustainability, research & development programs
  9. Clear communication both internal to the factory & external to the wider business
  10. Active member of the factory leadership team
  11. Champion KHMS into agricultural practices
  12. Work closely with commercial to develop & support growth strategies
  13. Work with technical peers & industry experts (both internal & external) to support & improve agricultural practices

Education & Experience:

  1. Experience in commercial vegetable or arable crop production environments
  2. Experience of building & managing supplier relationships
  3. Experience of leading high performing teams
  4. Demonstrated ability to enact positive change & a continuous improvement mindset
  5. Food manufacturing factory experience is highly preferential
  6. Experience of management of agricultural compliance activities is preferred
  7. Tertiary qualifications in agricultural or horticultural science, agricultural commerce or similar
