This Will Be An Overview Of Your Role
  1. Engage and build relationships with a diverse range of people.
  2. Security screening, operating and maintaining CCTV and electronic access control systems.
  3. Interacting with other agencies and stakeholders such as Police, Corrections, lawyers, and Judicial officers to ensure safe court proceedings.
  4. Patrol public areas, carry out building security checks, respond to duress alarm activations, identify, mitigate, respond to, and report security, health, and safety threats and incidents.
Ō Pūkenga/Skills And Experience
To be successful in this role you will be:
  1. Experienced in customer service, Security, Defence, or Government experience is desired but not essential as full training is provided.
  2. Confident with technology.
  3. Experienced with de-escalation techniques.
  4. Physically able to engage and pass qualification requirements in full contact Officer safety training.
  5. Knowledgeable of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, bringing an understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns, particularly Tikanga Māori, and their relevance to the Court Security Role and the Ministry of Justice.
Hold and maintain a full clean New Zealand driver's licence and clean criminal record.

When you start your training as a CSO, you will be given the opportunity to complete the National Certificate in Security Level 3, NZQA Unit Standards qualification.

This is a 40-hour, Monday to Friday role with paid overtime available when extra cover is required. Rostered hours may include a minimum 4-hour shift on Saturdays.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $58,729 and $80,794 based on skills and experience.
