Are you a warm-hearted, creative individual with a knack for retail? Do you thrive in a team environment and have a passion for making a difference? We're seeking a part-time Retail Manager to work in our Mount Roskill store who will not only work hard but is enthusiastic about contributing to Mercy Hospice's success.

Our Retail managers play an essential role in our wider team. You will help ensure the smooth running of our 7 day a week store, and provide continuity in customer service, pricing, and community connection.

We have a part-time position available at the Mount Roskill store. This role is 56 hours per fortnight; 32 hours in the first week (Wednesday to Saturday), and 24 hours in the second week (Thursday to Saturday). There is also an opportunity to fill in extra shifts when other team members are on leave.

The role involves working alongside other paid staff and helping manage a team of dedicated and passionate volunteers. This role would suit someone who is passionate about op shopping, sustainable fashion, and is keen to contribute to an organisation making a difference.

Ngā kawenga matua o te mahi / Key responsibilities of the role:
  • Support Store Management: Opening and closing the store; volunteer management, donation sorting and pricing, and customer service.
  • Shop Merchandising: Contribute to designing and implementing attractive and effective merchandise displays that enhance the shopping experience and maximize sales.
  • Customer Engagement: Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, addressing their needs, and resolving any issues in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the team, including volunteers and staff, to ensure smooth operations and a positive working environment.
  • Operational Assistance: Help manage cash handling, store organization, and adherence to health and safety guidelines.
Ngā pūkenga e hiahiatia / Skills you'll bring to the role:
  • Previous experience in retail or similar, with a demonstrated flair for merchandising and creating inviting store environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, staff, and volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale systems.
  • A passion for Mercy Hospice's mission and a desire to make a positive impact.
