Why we will love youIn this role, you will support the facility management of the IKEA New Zealand, in your toolkit you have:
- Professional experience in facility management or building services in day-to-day operations.
- Excellent technical know-how and experience in troubleshooting facility systems (building management systems, HVAC, energy management and much more).
- Sound knowledge of legal standards, regulations and compliance in the field of facility management, HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and contractor management.
- An open personality who communicates clearly and likes to work independently, accurately and reliably.
- A service-minded & solution-oriented approach to work, you work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Robust skills and experience in how to effectively manage competing priorities, and approach situations in a calm and logical way.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office suite, CAFM and are open to learn new apps.

About this work areaAs a committed, open-minded and curious specialist, you will support the IKEA Sylvia Park store and External Warehouse in all areas of facility management as a trusted and valued contact person. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the extensive building services ensuring compliance. Providing technical support for FM operations and projects as required and are on the constant outlook for improvements.
- Coordinating tasks and inquiries with internal teams and external FM suppliers, and report on service quality. And follow up quality of services delivered by contractors.
- Executing internal FM-related checks and reviews as well as participate in internal and external audits and certification.
- The preparation of reports and protocols, following up on permits and certificates etc, processing warranty claims, and keeping the documentation up-to-date at all times.
- Assisting in controlling cost and support FM budgeting activities and the annual business plan. You attend meetings to discuss operational issues and contribute to solutions.
- Together with your Facilities Management colleagues, you will be on rotational roster that includes evenings & weekends to ensure coverage of all operating hours of the IKEA store & external warehouse.
To be considered for this role experience in the following is essential:
- 3 years' experience in Facilities Management or equivalent role with a sound understanding of building services.
- Experience working with New Zealand building codes, safety codes and relevant legislation related to facilities management in New Zealand.
- Experience working with facilities management supplier agreements including planning, organising and managing costs and expenditure.
- Cultural competency and the ability to integrate equality, diversity, and inclusion practices within the New Zealand organisation.
- Passion for working with sustainability and environmental considerations, and driving improvements.
This role is permanent full time.
The work location for this role is IKEA Sylvia Park and external warehouse.
As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts. You also have the flexibility to work weekends.
Internal role title is Unit Facility Management Specialist.
As part of the recruitment process this role requires a pre-employment check for final candidates which includes an MOJ police check.
