Opportunity

Our client is a leading kaupapa Māori organisation dedicated to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for Māori. They are seeking a Kaiarataki Tangata Pūmanawa (HR Team Lead) to support the HR Manager, provide leadership to a small team, oversee recruitment, and offer HR advisory support to both kaimahi and management. This is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of HR advisory experience who is passionate about Te Ao Māori, organisational culture, and best-practice HR.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Leading and supporting the HR team, ensuring best practices in recruitment, performance management, and HR advisory.
  • Managing the end-to-end recruitment process, from job adverts to interviews and selection.
  • Providing HR and payroll-related advice to managers and kaimahi.
  • Supporting organisational performance management, coaching managers on HR processes, and helping mitigate employment risks.
  • Ensuring onboarding and induction processes run smoothly for new kaimahi.
  • Identifying HR trends and risks, providing analysis and insights to leadership.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance HR systems and efficiencies.
  • Upholding kaupapa Māori values, ensuring Te Ao Māori, Te Reo me ōna Tikanga are embedded across HR practices.

What You'll Bring:

  • 2–3 years of HR experience at an advisory level or above.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation (ERA, Privacy Act, Health & Safety).
  • Knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo me ōna Tikanga and the ability to apply these principles in a workplace setting.
  • Experience in recruitment, payroll, and performance management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide data-driven HR insights.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Experience with HR systems (Xero knowledge an advantage).
