The Role

A Software Tester I applies their skills and works closely with their cross functional teams to ensure amazing experiences for our customers. They solve problems and assist the team with ensuring the delivery of quality solutions.

Duties and responsibilitiesFunctional Testing
  1. Assist in designing functional test cases and creating test scripts.
  2. Support the preparation of test data for functional testing under supervision.
  3. Configure test environments to reflect realistic use cases.
  4. Execute and record manual and automated functional tests, analyse results and report on findings, issues and risks.
Software (Test) Design
  1. Create and document detailed designs for simple software tests or components.
  2. Apply agreed modelling techniques, standards, patterns and tools.
  3. Contribute to the design of components of larger software test systems, ensuring alignment with overall design requirements, including security.
  4. Review own work.
Application Support
  1. Assists with specified maintenance procedures.
  2. Assists in the investigation and resolution of issues relating to applications.
Release Management
  1. Assist with release management tasks.
  2. Support the collection of data and information for release planning and scheduling.
  3. Assist in the preparation of release materials and resources. Help document and maintain records of release activities.
  4. Participate in basic testing and quality assurance tasks and issue resolution.

To be successful in this role, the following technical qualifications, experience, and skills are required:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent.
  2. 3+ years working in relevant Software Testing roles.
  3. Familiarity with CI/CD Pipelines and DevOps practices.

In addition, you should have the following attributes:

  1. Work under direction, use discretion, seek guidance in unexpected situations, and plan work within short time horizons.
  2. Interact with immediate colleagues, customers, suppliers, and partners, and have awareness of the need to collaborate with the team and represent users' and customers' needs.
  3. Perform various work activities in different environments, contribute to routine issue resolution, and apply creative thinking or suggest new approaches to tasks.
  4. Demonstrate effective communication skills, understand and uses appropriate methods and tools, demonstrate an organized approach to work, has sufficient digital skills, identify development opportunities, and adhere to organizational standards for security, privacy, and ethics.
  5. Demonstrate basic domain knowledge, apply essential generic knowledge, and effectively absorb and apply new information when presented systematically.
Working conditions

Your team and particularly your Lead Software Engineer is here to provide support, direction, and inspiration. You will also work with and obtain support across the entire Seequent team and from external parties. This is an office-based role, and you are required to be in the Christchurch Seequent office three days a week.

Tier 3, after hours support may be required on occasion. Seequent has committed to providing a well-supported and professional office environment. Therefore, the budget will be in place to ensure this commitment is met.

Seequent will provide you opportunities to extend your professional skills by giving you ownership of projects. We will also support your development with a mixture of on-the-job coaching and external training.

Additional Information

Office-based working environment, work from our Christchurch, New Zealand office three or more days per week.
