Are you passionate about data and eager to make a significant impact? We are looking for a dynamic and curious Junior Data Analyst to join our People Experience (PX) team where you'll work closely with our Analytics Engineer in a 10-12 month FTC.

This role is critical in enhancing our analytics capability and scaling up the PX Analytics function to meet the growing demand for data-driven decision-making and ensure we are future-fit and ready. You'll be "data curious" with a genuine curiosity in Mercury's data assets and how these can be leveraged to deliver value to our internal stakeholders while taking a deep interest in PX's business processes and how these deliver outcomes and value. This role involves handling highly confidential data pertaining to our Mercury people, requiring the utmost discretion and professionalism.

Our preference is for this role to be based in Tauranga. We offer a hybrid work environment which combines time in the office, flexibility to work from home, and visiting our sites and key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Assist with data collection from different HR sources, such as PayGlobal, Snaphire and other key HR tools, systems and surveys.
  • Validate and clean data to ensure accuracy in PX reports and surveys.
  • Conduct statistical analysis on datasets using Excel, SQL or other tools to conduct Exploratory Data analysis to identify trends and insights.
  • Provide first-level insights and visualisations for PX business partners and PX Advisory team before escalation to the Analytics Engineer.
  • Assist in generating routine reports to monitor key Business Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), e.g. diversity and inclusion reports, leadership metrics.
We are looking for:
  • Tertiary or similar qualification in Human Resources, Statistics, Business/Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Statistics preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with the ability to apply analytical techniques effectively.
  • Experience operating in a Junior Analyst function (or role) would be advantageous.
  • Working with 'People data' would be advantageous.
  • Clear Communication - the ability to work collaboratively with the Analytics Engineer and PX function is key, to ensure high value products and services.
  • Clear documentation - the ability to capture knowledge for others to leverage, to ensure work is sustainable and simple.
