About the Role
This role is a Permanent Part-Time role.
Rosters & Hours:
You'll work on a rotating 4 days on, 2 days off roster.
- Weekdays: 6.5-hour shifts, between 9:30am – 4:00pm
- Weekends: 4-hour shifts, between 10:00am – 2:00pm
- On average, you'll be working around 25 hours per week.
Flexibility and availability across these hours are essential to ensure seamless service delivery.
You will identify the leisure activities of each resident based on their interests, preferences, and abilities and coordinate an activities programme based on their needs. You will have a big impact on the quality of life for our residents by promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of activities assistants, ensuring activities are well-coordinated, engaging, and aligned with residents' needs.
- Manage activity plans for residents across this 86-bed care home, with rest home and hospital levels of care.
- Plan, develop, and lead individualised activity plans for each resident based on the activity assessment outcome, their interests, and preferences.
- Ensure our valuable residents are treated with full respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.
- Maintain personal and professional development - we have on-site managers who always encourage our staff to up-skill
Skills and Qualifications
- You'll have a NZQA (or equivalent) Diversional Therapy (level 4) Certificate (or working towards a DT qualification).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferable.
- Have a creative flair to contribute towards a full and varied activities programme and help look after our residents while creating a caring atmosphere.
- You are a caring, team player, vibrant, and energetic, with an active interest in organising activities for multiple levels of function and ability.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- You will be required to drive the van for outings, so a clean, full driver's license is essential.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
