Job Description

Join our dynamic Wellington ITS team at Downer and be at the forefront of transforming the city's transport landscape We're seeking passionate individuals ready to make a difference in the Wellington community through innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology. As part of our team, you'll collaborate with the Wellington City Council on exciting projects that enhance mobility and safety for all residents. All our ITS positions are full-time and permanent opportunities with 40 hours guaranteed. We are currently hiring for several key positions within our Intelligent Transport Systems Division:

1. Line Mechanics: You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of essential transport infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure our systems operate smoothly and efficiently.
2. Electricians: As an electrician, you'll play a vital role in powering our intelligent transport systems. You'll work on installation and maintenance tasks, ensuring all electrical systems meet safety standards.

Important Skills | Nga pūkenga matua

• Electricians: Must be a New Zealand registered Electrician and have a current Electricians practising license with the EWRB. Line Mechanics: Must be New Zealand registered Line Mechanic or have Street light Level Standard.
• Previous experience as an electrician or line mechanic; preferably with a focus on ITS or similar systems is highly desirable.
• A valid full class 1 driver's license is required.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in electrical work. Commitment to maintaining a zero-harm work environment.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, control systems, and technology integration as well as solid computer skills and exposure to a wide variety of computer application.
• Willingness to work in various conditions and adapt to changing project requirements as there is an occasional requirement to travel and stay away from home.
