Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand Motor Trade Finance Limited Full time

This role is key to enterprise risk and governance at MTF Finance. We are looking for a Risk Manager to partner with National Office and Originators to ensure we successfully roll-out and embed our risk management framework across the first and second line.

As a regulated finance business, we need to make sure we are managing our risks and controls and are fully compliant with our obligations, and at MTF Finance we want to do so while continuing with our agile approach. We are looking for someone who understands the risk environment and has experience from within the financial services industry, combined with an ability to quickly identify, problem solve and share practical risk management guidance.

It is a generalist risk role, leaning towards operational risk, which will be involved in a range of activities from Risk & Control Assessments, Incident Management and Issues & Actions governance and helps prepare reporting for the monthly Audit & Risk Committee.

You will lead the way in real-time risk management by ensuring key risk indicators are well-defined and understood, incidents are managed, MI and reporting packs are comprehensive, and risk assessments are completed in good time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhancing and operationalising our Enterprise Risk Management Framework (of which Operational Risk is a key part).
  • Establish clear definitions and data-sets for Risk Management at MTF Finance to work towards real-time risk management and data-led decision making.
  • Ensure governance-related requirements are met across the business - including documentation, policy management and approvals / decision making.
Governance Committees
  • Responsible for Audit & Risk Committee meetings - including pack creation, drafting commentary, taking minutes, and action governance.
  • Identify items required for Board escalation and assist Head of Risk & Compliance with Risk reporting for Board Meetings.
Operational Risk
  • Complete risk assessments - both general risk and control self-assessments, and change risk assessments for new products and business change.
  • You will own and maintain our Risk Register & Control Library, and schedule required Control Testing by Control Owners.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 7 - 10 years Risk Management experience and expertise.
  • Previous experience in a Risk, Compliance or an Audit role, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Sound experience with RCSAs, Control Testing, Issue & Action Management.
  • Resilience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, while juggling tight and competing timeframes.
  • A self-starter, and able to work independently, make prioritisation decisions, and take ownership of their work.
  • Familiarity with Business Continuity Planning, CCCFA and Anti-Money Laundering & Countering Financing of Terrorism rules and regulations (preferable).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills with an enthusiasm for, and ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies.
  • Tertiary qualification is desirable but not essential, given the level of professional experience required.
What you'll receive in return:
  • We're an iconic New Zealand business that is on a mission to be New Zealand's favourite finance company.
  • We share our success with our team - our incentive schemes are based on both individual and business outcomes.
  • A supportive and vibrant culture where our people work together to deliver on our commitments.
  • Plenty of development opportunities, coaching and support.

At MTF Finance, our mission is to help New Zealanders get ahead by making lending about people again. Incredibly high standards drive us to give our customers the best service in the finance industry. Our NPS scores and review ratings are amongst the best in the world.
