Site and Sales Leader – Palmerston North

This position is a permanent fulltime role and the successful candidate will be based from our Palmerston North site.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Monitor and lead the team to maintain maximum performance and in line with Vulcan culture, principles and ethos. The team consists of multiple logistics and stores people, internal and external sales teams.
  • To inform, empower and motivate staff to achieve both personal and company goals
  • Be visible and approachable, demonstrating leadership and interacting with team members
  • Ensure individual roles, duties, responsibilities, objectives and performance against objectives are clearly communicated

Sales

  • Leads sales and operational planning / implementation - actively participate in client engagement and sales calls
  • Meet agreed targets for profitable sales and strategic objectives – delivering growth YOY
  • Monitor and understand our market and our place within it
  • Provide and promote a high level of customer service
  • Generating awareness of the breadth and depth of services Vulcan Group can offer
  • Ensure that Vulcan's purpose and role in the community is well understood and that its public image and profile is consistent with its vision and objectives.

Operations

  • Responsible for all day-to-day operational functions, including despatch and delivery operations to the wider region including Hawkes Bay, Taranaki and Wellington regions as well as the local Manawatu area.
  • Responsible for purchasing and stock control / inventory system
  • Deliver industry leading service to the customer base
  • Ensure the warehouse is efficient and tidy
  • Orders picked accurately, safely & quickly, driving our desire for 100% accuracy from order placement to delivery to our customers

Health and Safety, Privacy and General Legal Compliance

  • Ensure the Vulcan site is a healthy and safe work site and complies with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure the Health and Safety manual is maintained and updated, and its requirements are clearly communicated to all relevant parties.
  • Ensure legislative and contractual compliance, including of the Privacy Act.

  • Proven track record in a combination of warehouse and sales leadership

  • Strong ability to lead and manage multiple facets of the business at the same time
