Lecturer Carpentry

As part of our ongoing commitment to inspiring students and communities to succeed, UCOL is seeking a highly motivated lecturer or suitably qualified professional to deliver our Level 3 Carpentry Programme.

This is a permanent full-time position (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be a qualified carpenter with a minimum of a National / NZ Certificate in Carpentry or equivalent qualification, a current LBP, and ideally ten (10) years of current industry experience. It would be a strong advantage if you also held the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NZCALNE), the NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCAT), or equivalent and unit 4098 work-based assessor; however, these are not a requirement.

This position, based at our Manawatu Campus in Palmerston North, will require you to be hands-on, facilitating one-on-one learning, mentoring, motivating, and working with students individually. Your well-tuned rapport and communication skills will be essential. As well as working with a dynamic team, you will have the full support of the Academic Portfolio Manager, with all delivery resources and practical assessments fully developed. You will support and supervise the students building a three-bedroom house.

Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and will be required to complete New Zealand Police Vetting as part of the Children's Act 2014.

1. Minimum of National / New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry or equivalent
2. An Adult Tertiary Teaching qualification and/or the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education and/or unit 4098 work-based assessor or be working toward these
3. Experience delivering at the tertiary level and/or extensive industry experience (ideally 10 years); with training and supporting apprentices an advantage.
