You are a seasoned Business Event Professional who can successfully attract AND secure conferences and events for the Wellington region.

Please note: This is a fixed term contract opportunity for approximately 3 months, due to parental leave.

Ideally starting 9 June and finishing mid to late September.

What you'll do

  1. As our BEW Bids Manager, you'll be responsible for:
  2. Managing the development and preparation of financial feasibility studies (supported by TNZ) to determine whether a conference is viable to host in New Zealand.
  3. Managing the development and preparation of international bids so that each year the number of international business events identified in the Business Events Wellington Sales and Marketing Plan is achieved.
  4. Management of the bid process to achieve the conversion of bids as set out in the annual Business Events Wellington Sales and Marketing Plan.
  5. Maintaining close working relationships with key organisations and industry bodies e.g. Universities, Tourism New Zealand, PCO's, ICCA, BEIA, Hotels, etc.
  6. Attending Business Events sector events that support the development of business for Tākina.

About you

  1. Proven results in a business development or project management role, within the business events or conference sector. Ideally within New Zealand, or you have significant knowledge of our industry.
  2. Specialising in selling Wellington as a destination and adapting to different clients and changing scenarios. You love finding solutions, getting the mahi done, and meeting bid deadlines.
  3. Enjoy the mix of autonomous responsibilities while working within your own team and across the wider organisation.
  4. Detail oriented, able to work to strict deadlines and manage client deliverables.
  5. Exceptional communication skills, building rapport and fostering relationships with people from all walks of life, and levels of seniority.
  6. Proactive and creative thinker, contributing to strategies to drive the sales pipeline.
  7. Pride in your results, quality of work, customer centric and caring for your stakeholders, ensuring they receive the best experience.
