Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand Comspek International Full time

At Toyota New Zealand, we're proud to have been named "the business with the best reputation in the country" in the 2024 Kantar Corporate Reputation Index. This achievement reflects our deep commitment to trust, leadership, responsibility, and fairness — values that drive everything we do.
Now, we're looking for a forward-thinking Data & AI Manager to help us lead our next digital evolution.

This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll guide the strategy and execution of Toyota's data and AI roadmap. You'll lead the implementation of Microsoft Fabric, drive data governance through Microsoft Purview, and ensure our data platforms support ethical, secure, and scalable analytics.

Working closely with both national and global partners, you'll ensure Toyota is future-ready — using data to drive smart, evidence-based decisions. You'll also lead a talented team, manage key vendor relationships, and help upskill the wider business in data literacy.

In this role, you will:

  1. Lead the transition to Microsoft Fabric as our modern data platform.
  2. Implement and oversee data governance using Microsoft Purview, ensuring compliance with global standards.
  3. Deliver AI and machine learning solutions that support business insights and strategic decision-making.
  4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to facilitate secure, compliant data sharing.
  5. Manage vendor relationships and hold service providers accountable for delivering value.
  6. Ensure robust Data & AI governance, security, compliance, and literacy frameworks are established and continuously matured.
You'll bring:

  1. Experience in data analytics, AI, or data science roles.
  2. Proven experience managing data or AI teams, ideally within complex or enterprise environments.
  3. Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Purview, and cloud technologies (Azure, Synapse, Databricks).
  4. Experience deploying AI/ML models to solve business problems and generate insights.
  5. Experience with implementing and managing data governance, security risk, privacy risks as well as compliance frameworks and processes.
  6. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across business and technical teams.
  7. Proven success managing vendors and delivering outcomes through managed services.
At Toyota, you'll join a supportive, future-focused environment where innovation and continuous improvement are part of the culture. We're not just using data — we're transforming how it shapes our decisions, enhances our customer experience, and prepares us for a smarter, more connected future.
