Community - Clinical Psychologist

We are looking for a NZ Registered Clinical Psychologist with a current APC to join Awhi Mātua, a Community Mental Health Team serving the central Auckland population of adults over 65 experiencing acute mental health challenges or behavioural difficulties associated with dementia. This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday).

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

This clinical position involves working directly with Tangata Whaiora, providing psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions using evidence-based best practice principles. You will also have the opportunity to provide specialised consultation for colleagues and develop management plans as non-pharmacological interventions for Tangata Whaiora presenting with severe behavioural challenges.

You will collaborate in designing care plans, advocate for Tangata Whaiora goals, and coordinate with the wider team to develop sustainable solutions for Tangata Whaiora to live well outside of specialist mental health and addiction services. This role includes case management responsibilities and participation in an Urgent Clinician roster.

A full and clean driver's license is required for this community-based role.

Join a team committed to the following principles:

  • Recovery oriented
  • Equity lens
  • Socially inclusive

Applicants will also have:

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and adaptability
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
