Role Snapshot

Our expanding team is seeking a Structural Engineer with 2-4 years' post-graduate experience to work on a variety of high-quality and challenging projects across New Zealand. Our current blend of projects includes a mixture of high-end residential and commercial building design and detailed seismic assessments of heritage structures.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. A BE in civil engineering (or equivalent by Washington Accord)
  2. 2-4 years' experience working for a reputable structural engineering consultancy

Core Duties

  1. Preparation of sketches, calculations and reports to ensure the successful delivery of projects
  2. Carry out site inspections to ensure construction work is being carried out to an acceptable standard
  3. Technical reviews of drawings to ensure structural layout and member sizes match the design calculations
  4. Strict adherence to the Company Operations Manual to ensure consistency in project delivery
  5. Regular communication and coordination with project architects and other building industry professionals

Technical Skills

  1. Use analytical software effectively and interpret the outputs concisely
  2. Good working knowledge of NZ Standards
  3. Competent in the design of all principal construction materials (concrete, masonry, steel and timber)

Personal Skills and Interests

  1. Able to prioritise workload, juggle a variety of tasks at once, and work effectively within a team
  2. Great budget awareness and management, and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  3. A flexible, positive approach and the ability to work as part of a team in a busy, creative atmosphere
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
  5. Can do attitude with a drive for success
  6. A keen interest in architecture and design
  7. Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
