Financial Control Specialist

As a Financial Control Specialist in our Enterprise Finance team, you'll play a key role in:
- Supporting Financial Controller and Business Partners in meeting all month-end reporting requirements including regulatory reporting.
- Providing accounting and reporting services to the business units, ensuring the delivery of accurate, insightful and up-to-date financial data.
- Overseeing governance activities for bank-owned accounts, maintaining strong balance sheet ownership and reconciliation processes to uphold financial integrity.
What will your day look like?
We're looking for a proactive and dynamic Financial Control Specialist to support financial control, accounting and reporting services. In this role, you will ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial information, meeting all reporting requirements including regulatory obligations, while maintaining a strategic perspective. We're looking for someone who can manage the details while also thinking creatively to drive improvements and enhance outcomes. A strong emphasis on governance and compliance is essential, ensuring the integrity of financial data and full adherence to accounting and regulatory standards.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing reporting packs including financial analysis and regulatory reports.
- Managing month-end processes, overseeing reconciliations, schedules, trial balances, and essential elements for accurate financial reporting and successful audit completion.
- Leading the financial close process, collaborating closely with other finance teams, including offshore hubs while maintaining strong partnership with key finance stakeholders.
- Managing and overseeing governance activities for bank-owned accounts and balance sheet ownership and reconciliation processes.
- Providing financial support for various business operations, projects and initiatives.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- At least 7+ years of proven experience working in Finance roles preferably in banking or financial services industry.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
- Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and managing time effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with proven ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
- Ability to understand new concepts and apply them efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and drive change.
This role is a permanent full-time position based in Wellington, NZ. You must have the right to live and work in NZ to be considered. Remote candidates will not be considered.
