Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand ThroughLine Limited. Full time

Add expected salary to your profile for insights

At ThroughLine, we're driven by one purpose: to ease every emotional crisis. It's ambitious and bold but we really believe it We are a team of mental health innovators and software engineers on a mission to make accessing emotional support effortless, personal, and universal.

We power support experiences on some of the world's most influential platforms—like Google, YouTube, Discord, Roblox, and Twitch—connecting users to life-saving resources across 140+ countries. With millions already reached, we're just getting started.

The role

We're looking for a Product Manager to join our helpline solutions squad—the team behind our web app, embeddable widget, and API products. These tools connect people in crisis—whether facing suicidal thoughts, sexual assault, domestic violence, or eating disorders—with vital helpline support.

As part of a small, focused team, you'll play an essential role in shaping the future of ThroughLine's helpline solutions products. Your work will impact hundreds of thousands of lives every month, making a real difference when it matters most. Your contributions will be meaningful, visible, and deeply rewarding.

What You'll Do:

  • Own and drive the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond.
  • Research, design, and build new features that address customer needs, and help people in crisis get the right support, faster.
  • Lead customer and user discovery, conducting interviews and testing to deeply understand pain points and needs.
  • Use data and analytics to validate hypotheses, measure success, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, clinicians, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution.
  • Maintain a high standard of product excellence, ensuring intuitive and impactful user experiences.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices in mental health tech and crisis intervention.
What You'll Bring
  • You have 3+ years of product management experience. Shipping products in health tech or marketplaces is a plus.
  • You have strong product sense and user empathy. You can put yourself in the shoes of a user and anticipate how they'll experience and interact with a product.
  • You are hypothesis-driven and empirical, validating your instincts with evidence and data.
  • You know how to ruthlessly prioritise, balancing speed, impact, and constraints to move the needle on what matters.
  • You have a strong data analysis toolbox and can comfortably analyse our data to uncover insights using best-practice tools (e.g. Excel / Google Sheets, SQL, Google Analytics, etc.).
  • You are a cross-functional leader who gets teams moving in the same direction, aligning engineering, clinical, design and other stakeholders toward shared goals.
  • You communicate with clarity and purpose. Whether you're crafting a product spec, aligning stakeholders, or presenting insights, you make complex ideas easy to grasp.
  • You are endlessly resourceful and have a proactive, get-it-done mindset. You thrive when you're hands-on, solving problems and driving execution.
What we offer

ThroughLine is well-funded by leading Australian & NZ investors. We are small and nimble, so you'll get all the benefits of joining a growing team that's having a global impact:

  • Meaningful work: The opportunity to build products that make a global impact on mental health.
  • Equity options: Share in our success as we grow.
  • Flexible, hybrid work: In-office collaboration, then focus time at home.
  • Supportive team: We bring our full selves each day and genuinely care about each other.
  • Shape our future: Join early and help define our culture and direction.

We're not a fit for everyone – and that's okay. Here's some reasons why ThroughLine might not be a great place for you…

  • We're driven, really driven: Our mission is personal to us—everyone here cares about it deeply. If you're not passionate about doing things differently when it comes to mental health support, you might find it a bit much
  • We're small: Because we're early on our journey we don't have all the perks of some large established companies, and no-one gets to say "that's not my job".
  • We're a startup: We're still figuring things out which means sometimes you'll get asked to make decisions without all the information or change your plans unexpectedly.

We encourage candidates from marginalized groups to apply even if they don't meet every qualification—we're focused on finding the best candidate for the role.
