Te Haeata / The Opportunity

As a Court Registry Officer, you are an important cog in the justice machine. You will work with a team responsible for the successful operation of the Court and liaise with multiple stakeholders including members of the judiciary, lawyers, and the public. You'll enjoy the diversity of duties with tasks that include but are not limited to:

  1. Case management – ensuring files are accurate and up to date, involving a large component of data entry and sound decision-making.
  2. Court taking – running the court, including opening court sessions (in English and Te Reo Māori), working closely with Judiciary in the courtroom and in chambers, and general administration of the court.
  3. Customer service – interacting with customers on any court related matter through face-to-face, phone, or email interactions.

The successful candidate is likely to be appointed to the family / civil jurisdiction team. There will be opportunities to work across teams and possibly travel to support other courts in the Wellington Region or wider.

  5. Willing to learn – adapting to changing legislation and processes in the court.

You will be an excellent communicator with good English and confident Te Reo Māori pronunciation. Confidence in using audio-visual equipment is also desirable. You enjoy helping others, are flexible, calm, and not daunted by the busy courtroom environment.

Utu ā-tau / Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $59,729 and $80,794 based on skills and experience.
