Role Purpose
As Principal Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader driving platform optimisation and reliability across teams. You'll create development, delivery, and operations platforms that enable the rapid delivery of high-quality software through automation. This is an opportunity to influence strategic decisions, mentor talented engineers, and shape the technological direction of our platform services.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement cloud-agnostic strategies, containerisation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure scalable, cost-efficient platforms.
- Drive the adoption of advanced technologies, align strategies with business objectives, and lead impactful technical projects.
- Design and implement complex systems, ensuring solutions meet performance and quality standards while adhering to architectural best practices.
- Provide guidance, foster knowledge sharing, and champion continuous learning within engineering teams.
- Uphold secure design principles and ensure solutions comply with regulatory and organisational standards.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years in professional software development, with proven experience in a technical leadership role.
- Mastery of web technologies, APIs, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), and cloud-native architectures.
- Proficiency with databases (relational and NoSQL) and monitoring systems.
- Expertise in secure design, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability systems.
- Leadership, innovation, strategic thinking, and mentorship.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse workplace.
