The Senior Territory Sales Executive is responsible for the achievement of the sales targets in the territory. The successful representative will be able to drive a highly complex, multi-departmental, hospital sale, private lab or POC sale from the introduction of new diagnostic concepts through closure and implementation.

Via a consultant approach, you will gain an understanding of the full Patient & Sample pathway. This will include relevant investigations with laboratory, infection control, quality assurance, hospital administration, executive staff, physicians, and other healthcare staff to understand needs, develop the business case, gain consensus, and close the opportunity.

Location: This position is part of the Sales Team in New Zealand and is a fixed-term field-based position with home office and car allowance. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Drive & develop demand for and adoption of new assays and instrumentation to deliver on quarterly & annual orders and revenue sales targets; improve profit margin on equipment, reagent, and service contract sales.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships throughout the institutions from administration to technicians, with laboratory, pharmacy, infection control, nursing management, emergency department, risk management, and physician partners within the healthcare market in order to identify qualified leads, grow market share, increase revenue, and reduce customer attrition.
  • Responsible for all communications between the customer and Cepheid personnel and for ensuring that new product implementations go smoothly.
  • Manage contract compliance.
  • Work closely with internal resources to develop and implement customer & region-specific sales strategies.
  • Deliver presentations and proposals.
  • Host and assist with trade shows.
  • Host user-group meetings.
  • Manage customer data & optimize cycle time by using Salesforce.com (CRM tool) to maintain customer and account activity, map visibility and drive market share, and prioritize sales funnel.
  • Achieve instrument and reagent sales goals.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in scientific fields of Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Oncology, Virology, or similar.
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience in a sales position within hospital and private lab environments.
  • Strong track record of sales success, specifically in selling high-value products.
  • Expertise with demand creation and multi-departmental hospital sales is a plus.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Solution selling / consultative sales approach.
  • CRM application(s) such as Salesforce.com or others.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Travel ability 50-75% within assigned territory.
