Weatherell Transport Limited (Trading as Freshways Transport) is seeking a Gisborne Dispatcher. Weatherell Transport started off in 1994 based in Gisborne servicing the ever-growing needs of the local produce growers. From early days of just a handful of trucks, Steve and Jane have grown the company to be a leading nationwide provider to the produce industry. Now operating 6 depots nationwide and in excess of 90 owned trucks, as well as working with 10 direct contractors, clocking up 10 million kms per year. Steve and Jane continue to work daily in the business maintaining 100% New Zealand owned and operated inter-island service. Weatherell Transport provides a daily return service between all major North Island destinations and a 36-hour service into all major South Island destinations. Although the bulk of our movements started off being for the produce industry, we now have dedicated trucks for Chilled/Frozen goods, General freight, and Container transport with various other specialized equipment to meet the customer's needs. Weatherell Transport has a strong focus on safety for both its employees and the general public.

The Gisborne Dispatchers (team of 2) are responsible for the tactical deployment, monitoring, and reporting of all Freshways Transport network activity out of Gisborne. The job holder must plan and adapt to ensure continuity of service. In this role, you will share responsibilities of maintaining system files and databases, while reporting on the requirements of the operation through engagement with stakeholders both internal and external.

The job holder will need the ability to "see around corners," thinking and responding quickly and working well in conjunction with our sending customers to act as an interconnect between Operational sites and the network. They will need to adapt to solve real-time issues, as the role is required to work by themselves or with the team to resolve challenging situations and ensure the successful operation of the Gisborne operation. This may include the ability to size up or down transport requirements through the engagement of additional on-demand capacity (in consultation with the Gisborne Operations Manager) and manage challenging conditions throughout the regular routes we travel on a given day. During the shift, a high level of attention to detail and well-developed interpersonal skills will be needed. You will be required to manage databases, becoming proficient in the use of the TMS system, reports, and relationships with contractors, drivers, and customers. You will be required to work directly with customers, maintaining service standards.

Days and Hours of Work: Current operational hours shared by dispatchers Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 18:00 & Saturday & Sunday 10:00 – 16:00
